Most Hindus are Balinese and Indian descendants in Indonesia, Buddhists and Confucians are mostly Chinese-Indonesian descendants.

Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” is taken from a quote from the book Sutasoma by Mpu Tantular. The national motto is taken from the ancient Javanese language. The word “Bhinneka” means diverse or different, the word “Single” means one. While “Ika” means that.
